A very interesting development in Pitt’s search for a quarterback for their Class of 2020.
For a time, Pitt looked like the favorite to land talented Georgia three-star quarterback Tate Rodemaker, but that changed Wednesday, when he received an offer from Florida State. Things have developed quickly between the two sides as Pittsburgh Sports Now reported Thursday morning that Rodemaker is currently on an official visit at Florida State.
The Seminoles developed a need at that position after 2020 four-star quarterback Jeff Sims de-committed following the hiring of new head coach Mike Norvell. Sims (6-foot-3, 195 pounds) is a highly rated recruit from Jacksonville, Florida. Prior to committing to Florida State, Sims held offers from Penn State, Virginia Tech, LSU, Georgia, Central Florida, Louisville, Maryland and Georgia Tech. Sims had been committed to Florida State since early February.
Sims attends Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, the same high school as three-star safety Derek Bermudez. It just so happens that Pat Narduzzi was at Sandalwood High School Thursday morning for a scheduled meeting with Bermudez and while he was there, Narduzzi also met with Sims.
Narduzzi attempted to sell Sims on the opportunity at Pitt, but at this point it looks like time isn’t on Pitt’s side. Despite just de-committing from Florida State, Sims is planning on signing next Wednesday.
