Amber Brown’s 6th Double-Double Not Enough to Push Pitt Past Notre Dame

First-year forward Amber Brown recorded another double-double, but Pitt’s comeback bid fell short against Notre Dame in a 60-52 loss at Petersen Events Center on Thursday.

Brown had 12 points and 11 rebounds for her sixth double-double of her first collegiate season. She did most of her damage from the free-throw line, where she was 8 for 14, but struggled shooting, going 2 of 11 from the floor.

Junior wing Gabbie green led Pitt with 13 points and was 3 of 6 from 3-point range as Pitt’s only outside shooting threat. The rest of the Panthers went 0 for 9 from long range.

Notre Dame led by 17 points in the middle of the third quarter, but Pitt went closed the gap all the way to a three-point Irish lead when Dayshanette Harris sent home a fast-break layup with 2:33 to play.

But Pitt missed its final four shots of the game and shot just 25.4% from the floor in the game as the offense let the Panthers down.

Pitt will take the court at Petersen Events Center once again this Sunday for a 2 p.m. tipoff against the Boston College Eagles. That game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
