Josh Williams scored 20 points to lead Robert Morris to an 89-78 win over Central Connecticut State to open Northeast Conference play on Thursday.
Williams was a hyper-efficient 8 of 12 from the floor and 4 of 6 from 3-point range for his 20 points, the third time this season he scored 20 or more. Williams also added four rebounds, four assists and a steal.
Jon Williams added 17 points, 15 of which were from beyond the arc, as he went 5 of 7 from long range. As a team, the Colonials shot 14 of 30 for 46.7% from down town.
At forward, A.J. Bramah came off the bench, but quickly supplanted starters Yannis Mendy and Charles Bain to grab his third double-double of the season with 14 points and a team-high 14 rebounds.
The Colonials led by just three midway through the first half, but extended that lead to the 10 at the period break and then cruised through a drama-free second half.
Next, Robert Morris will hit the road and travel to North Andover, Massachusetts to play new conference foe Merrimack on Saturday. That game has a 4 p.m. tipoff.
