Steelers Sign Former Pitt RB Darrin Hall

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed former Pitt running back Darrin Hall to a reserve/futures contract, the team announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Hall, 23, is a 6-foot, 225-pound running back that spent time on the Steelers’ practice squad in 2019 and was with the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns and Green Bay Packers leading up to the 2019 season.

In three preseason games with Green Bay, Hall had 10 carries for 39 yards and caught one pass for two yards.

Over four seasons with the Panthers, Hall rushed for 2,189 yards and 38 touchdowns, including a 1,144-yard season as a senior in 2018. He also caught 38 balls for 267 yards and a touchdown.

As a senior, his 7.48 yards per carry average was seventh in the country and broke Pitt’s single-season record which had been held by Tony Dorsett. He was named to the third-team All-ACC squad for his performance.

Hall is a native of Youngstown, Ohio and attended Austintown Fitch High School.

I can’t understand why he hasn’t gotten more of a look for some teams. I always thought he might turn out to be an even better pro than Ollison could be. I hope the Steelers at least give him an opportunity to learn a playbook and play a couple preseason games. Have a good feeling about him.
