Pat Narduzzi’s Reaction to Dave Andrews Leaving Pitt for Iowa State

Published

The news of Dave Andrews leaving Pitt is no longer speculation as both football programs have issued statements regarding the news.

Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell was first to speak on the addition to his program with this statement:

“Dave is one of the best strength and conditioning practitioners in the country,” Campbell said. “His reputation in the profession is impeccable. He has outstanding leadership qualities and the proven ability to train athletes into peak performers. There is no doubt that Dave will make an impact on our student-athletes.”

Iowa State says that Andrews’ official start date is pending successful background checks.

Pitt is now officially in the market for one of the most important jobs in a football program and the search is already underway.

”When I accepted the Pitt job five years ago, a Dave Andrews was one of my first hires. I will always be grateful for his passionate commitment to our players and his important role in helping to build our program. We wish Dave and his family the very best as they begin this new chapter,” said Pat Natduzzi.

“We have begun the search for our next great strength and conditioning coach, who will get to work with a tremendous group of players ready to make this our best offseason ever. Already, we have received nationwide interest from some outstanding candidates. We are always looking to raise the level of our program and this hire presents that opportunity.”

People don’t realize, the position of head coach is administrator. You evaluate your staff and in Power Five school work to improve it. Randy Bates has produced a great defense, he’s a keeper. Whipple would have produced the same effect if Pitt hadn’t lead the nation in dropped passes. Now the line coach needs to produce the same effect to produce a running game. It goes hand in hand with the strength coach.
