Jeff Capel continues to go after some of the top talent in the country, recently sending out an offer to one of the highest rated junior players.

2021 5-star point guard Khristian Lander (6’2″, 165) announced last night that his latest offer came from Jeff Capel and Pitt. Lander, who’s from Evansville, Indiana, is rated as the top junior point guard by 247 Sports and the 11th overall prospect.

Not surprisingly, Lander’s offer list includes some of the top programs in college basketball like Louisville, Michigan, Indiana, Florida, Kansas, Memphis, Ohio State, Purdue, Texas Tech and Tennessee. At this point, two programs that appear to be high on Lander’s list are nearby schools: Indiana and Louisville.

Lander becomes the fifth 5-star junior in the Class of 2021 that Capel has offered after C Moussa Diabate (Bradenton, Florida), F Jonathan Kuminga (Elizabeth, New Jersey), F A.J. Griffin (White Plains, New York) and C Frank Kepnang (Westtown, Pennsylvania).

Capel continues his hunt to land a premiere point guard after losing out late this year to North Carolina with 4-star talent R.J. Davis. Earlier this month, Pitt was able to land a major talent in 2022 5-star combo guard Jalen Hood-Schifino from Charlotte, North Carolina.
