But Pitt came away with a last-minute 74-72 victory over Boston College after Ryan Murphy’s jumper with 3.6 to play on Wednesday night.

“Well, that’s the way we drew that up,” head coach Jeff Capel deadpanned to begin his postgame press conference.

Justen Champagnie is fast becoming the star of this team. McGowens and Johnson were clueless on how to attack the BC defense and were taking off balanced runners. No one was rebounding especially on the defensive glass. This kid is taking the team on his shoulders like a 1st year player from 1971. The guy’s number hung from the rafters in the Fieldhouse and now hangs in the Pete. He’s a reminder of Billy Knight, shoot, rebound, play defense, sell popcorn. He won’t be around for 4-years.

Glad to see and hear that name, Braddock is forgotten for the type of Athletes it used to produce.
