Top Pa. 2021 Recruit Derrick Davis Visits Pitt

Getting a chance to host one of the top talents in country is always a good thing and that’s exactly what Pitt did on Friday.

It just so happens this elite recruit is from Western Pennsylvania.

PSN has learned that Pat Narduzzi and his staff hosted Gateway four-star athlete Derrick Davis on an unofficial visit. Rivals currently ranks Davis as one of the Top 100 juniors in the country.

Getting a player with the profile of Davis to visit and for the Pitt staff to have 1-on-1 time with him is very important for Pat Narduzzi and his staff, because almost every program is going after him.

Davis is shaping up to be the WPIAL’s highest profile recruit in some time, as he has an eye opening list of offers from schools like Alabama, Baylor, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Davis is a player that has the ability to play multiple positions in college. Schools project him as a running back, linebacker or defensive back. Pitt seems open to him playing either defense  or running back.

While it would appear it would be difficult for Pitt to land Davis, they do have a couple things going for them.

Pitt has been recruiting Davis as long as anyone because Pat Narduzzi was the first coach to offer Davis back in his freshman season.

One other thing to consider us Davis is friends with a lot of the top players in the Class of 2021. With four-star DE Nahki Johnson already in the fold, if Pitt can land Elliot Donald, Dorien Ford and Donovan McMillon, could that impact Davis to want to stay home?

Prior to this visit, Davis was in State College last weekend and has upcoming trips planned to Ohio State and Michigan.

I hope this young man chooses PITT. I had the pleasure of teaching him briefly and he was always respectful and kind.

I also hope he says Pitt is it but I doubt he will. He’s an Alabama fan so they have to be in the pole position but you just never know. It would be awesome if Pat can land Davis, Ford, and Donald. That could be a great class.
