It’s always said that getting in early with a recruit is important and that’s exactly what Pitt is doing with a player in Florida.

The Panthers became the first school to offer sophomore defensive tackle Keshaun Hudson from Coconut Creek High School in Fort Lauderdale. Hudson (6’0”, 260) had a breakout 2019 season collecting 41 tackles along with 10 sacks.

Pittsburgh Sports Now caught up with Hudson on Monday night after he received the news from Pitt.

”This is a big day for me and it means a lot,”’Hudson told PSN. “This offer also is huge motivation for me to continue to work harder and keep grinding. The offer was a bit of a surprise but I was definitely happy to get it.”

“Pitt has been coming to watch me this spring and then today (Monday), my head coach came to me and said ‘you finally got your first offer, how do you feel’”?

Hudson says that the first person he called was his dad who congratulated him and to keep working hard.

Playing for a talent rich high school like Coconut Creek is beneficial to a player and in the case of Hudson, it was motivational.

”Coming into the spring I was very excited and seeing the amount of college coaches that were at our school pushed me harder,” said Hudson. “Another source of motivation for me was a 4-star defensive end that we had (Chris Jones). I saw the amount of attention and offers he was getting. Seeing all of the schools that were here to see him made me want them to come see me and recruit me like that.”

In terms of the strengths of his game, Hudson lists his ability to stuff the opposing teams running game at the top of his list.

This first offer and Hudson’s ability means that his recruitment and offers will be taking off. Two things that stood out to Hudson about Pitt were Aaron Donald, who is someone he looks up to. He also is friends with current Panther running back Vincent Davis.
