The Panther football program hosted a number of underclassman from Virginia last Saturday and a majority of those players have offers from Pitt.

Junior running back Rodney Hammond (Norfolk, Virginia), who’s already committed to Pitt, made the trip and another player that Pat Narduzzi would love to get a commitment from made a return visit to Pittsburgh.

Class of 2021 four-star defensive end Naquan Brown from Ocean Lakes High School in Virginia Beach made the trip with a few of his teammates. Brown is rated as a Top 125 recruit with a man impressive list of offers from schools like LSU, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Michigan, North Carolina, Maryland, Florida and Tennessee.

It won’t be easy to land a player with his talent but Brown tells Pittsburgh Sports Now left the visit feeling impressed and more importantly felt like he was very much wanted.

”Every time I go to Pitt, the whole coaching staff always show me so much love and always make me feel like they want and need me at Pitt,” Brown said to PSN. “It was such a nice experience and they always stay in contact with me every week which shows me how much they want me.”

Brown is getting recruited by many program, but it’s not an overstatement to say that Chris Beatty and Pitt are recruiting him as hard as anyone.

”Most definitely,” Brown said. “They are recruiting me just as hard as Virginia Tech is. They’re right up there and actually those are the one and two as far as teams that are really recruiting me hard.”

Brown’s main recruiter is Beatty but on his latest visit, he spent a lot of quality time with Charlie Partridge, who could potentially be his future position coach.

”He says that he sees me as an edge rusher and would be more of a hybrid versatile player that would get to the quarterback,” Brown said. “Coach told me that he would love for me to go there and to be able to coach me.”

Brown isn’t close to making a decision but Pitt will be a finalist and he notices and appreciates the effort they’re making in recruiting his state.

”That actually means a lot. Out of all the out of state schools recruiting me, Pitt is coming after me the hardest. I can feel that they want me as bad as Tech does which is an awesome thing,” said Brown.

”I’m just enjoying the process and letting everyone recruit and get a look at me but eventually I’m going to narrow things down. When it comes time to make that final decision, I can tell it’s going to be hard.”
