Watch: Pat Narduzzi Signing Day Press Conference

PITTSBURGH — Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi said he plans on staying at Pitt in his signing day press conference on Wednesday, one day after rampant speculation that he would be a candidate to be the head coach at Michigan State following the sudden retirement of Mark Dantonio on Tuesday.

“Rumors? Squash them,” Narduzzi said. “I’m here at Pitt and that’s where I want to be.”

Narduzzi said the decision was not an easy one, given his history with Michigan State, but credited the support from chancellor Patrick Gallagher and athletic director Heather Lyke, along with the talent of his returning team, as the reasons he wants to stay at Pitt.

Here’s more from Narduzzi on the Michigan State job, along with the signing of two more players to his Class of 2020.

There’s no question in my mind that we have a dedicated and committed Head Coach here at Pitt in Pat Narduzzi. A guy that genuinely cares about the institution and about his players. Anyone that questions that much at this point is someone that I can’t understand.
