To hear Georgia Tech head coach Josh Pastner tell it, the Panthers could be in line for another increase in their win total for the 2020-21 season.

Pastner praised the Panthers play and noted that Pitt will lose just one player from its current regular rotation before next season, and he thinks that combination could vault the Panthers toward the top of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

“I would be surprised if preseason rankings next year … they’re not one of those teams that’s picked in the top three or four in the ACC,” Pastner said.

That capped his post-game press conference, which was mostly him glowing over the development over the development of the Pitt team under Jeff Capel.

“They’re a really good basketball team, not only for this year,” he said “Obviously, they’re very young. They’re going to be really good next year, as well, too, so a lot of credit to Pittsburgh and Coach Capel and his staff and team.”

“I think they’re a really good team. I think they’re well coached. They play hard. You’ve got to give Coach Capel and his staff a lot of credit. I think they’re really good this year and I think they’re going to be really, really good next season.”

While he was at it, Pastner also gave plaudits to the Pitt band:

“I thought the Pittsburgh band did a great job with the national anthem,” he said. “I wanted to give them a shout out, too.”
