Die-Hards: Capel Will Have Options for Starting 5 Next Season

Published

on

Following their 72-49 loss Wednesday night to Syracuse, Pitt has now lost 5 in a row and 8 of their last 10 games.

It’s pretty clear that the losing but more importantly the lack of quality depth has impacted this team and has put a damper on what was shaping up to be a rebound season for the Panthers.

While the lack of bodies is certainly a legit excuse for the late season stumble, it’s pretty obvious that Jeff Capel isn’t into excuses and hasn’t been shy in expressing his displeasure about his team’s performance and about certain individuals (without naming them).

In last night’s postgame press conference, Capel wasn’t shy in mentioning his disappointment in his team’s performance, especially recently–and said that this group hasn’t improved over the last month.

All that tells me is that no one currently on the roster should assume they have a spot or minutes guaranteed heading into the 2020-21 season.

The good news for Capel is that he’s adding more talent to his roster and will have more options at his disposal, including in his starting five.
