Pitt’s Drake, Tucker Take Medical Exemptions

Published

on

Big roster news as the Pitt football team starts Spring Practice.

The team announced update that redshirt sophomore offensive tackle Jerry Drake and junior linebacker Albert Tucker were being placed on an exempt medical list. This means that the two of those were no longer on the team and their scholarship won’t count towards the 85 man scholarship limit.

This medical situation is similar to what occurred years ago with George Hill and Zack Gilbert following their preseason physical. No reason has been given for what the situation is with Drake and Tucker.

Tucker has battled injuries throughout his Panther career and never really got on the field. Drake is a big loss considering he’s a former highly rated 4-star recruit and was supposed to compete for playing time in 2020.

The loss of those two players puts Pitt at 83 scholarship players, two under the limit.
