Keith Gavin’s Pitt wrestling squad had three of its members get top seeds for this weekend’s ACC Wrestling Championships.
Pitt redshirt sophomore Micky Phillippi (133 pounds), redshirt junior Gregg Harvey (174 pounds) and senior Demetrius Thomas (285) were all named the top seeds in their respective weight classifications.

Taleb Rahmani, 157 lbs., No. 3 seed
Jake Wentzel, 165 lbs., No. 4 seed
Gregg Harvey, 174 lbs., No. 1 seed
Nino Bonaccorsi, 184 lbs., No. 3 seed
Kellan Stout, 197 lbs., No. 2 seed
Demetrius Thomas, 285 lbs., No. 1 seed
Pitt has not had three No. 1 seeds since 2015, with Mikey Racciato (149), Tyler Wilps (174) and Max Thomusseit (184). It should be mentioned that in that year, all three Pitt wrestlers went on to win their classification.
The 2020 ACC Championships will take place this Sunday at the Peterson Events Center. The first round will begin at 11 a.m. with the championship finals set for 7 p.m. Fans will be able to enter The Pete on Sunday starting at 10 AM. The early rounds will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra and the championship finals will be broadcast on ACC Network.
