The Coronavirus is now having an impact on a local sporting event.
The Robert Morris athletic department has announced that it’s complying with NCAA President Mark Emmert regarding COVID-19, and the NEC Semifinal Thursday night at the UPMC Events Center will be played in front of only essential staff, media. and limited family attendance.
Should Robert Morris advance tot he NEC Championship Game on Sunday, it would also be played with just essential staff, media and limited family attendance.
Officials from Robert Morris University say that they’ll be monitoring the situation closely and announce any additional updates if needed.
The Colonials games will still be broadcasted on ESPN3, NEC Front Row, and ESPN 970 AM. The Championship game is scheduled to be televised on ESPNU.
