At 6 p.m. on Sunday, the Robert Morris men’s basketball team was expected to gather at UPMC Events Center on campus to learn their seeding in the 2020 NCAA Tournament.
That won’t happen, the NCAA announced on Sunday, as not only won’t there be a tournament, but the bracket won’t be released thanks to incomplete results from several conference tournaments.
But Robert Morris is still trying to have a special night to recognize its NEC champions and first NCAA Tournament qualifying basketball team since 2015.
The school is planning a 6 p.m. watch party on its Facebook page for fans of the team to re-live memories of its championship season.
“With the sports world on hold and many of our student-athletes’ seasons cut short, we wanted to spend Sunday night the way we’d planned after winning the men’s basketball NEC Championship … with a watch party!,” the school wrote on social media.
“It’s not the selection show we wanted but we’ll gather as Colonials at 6:00 p.m. Sunday night across RMU’s social media platforms to take in the highlights of the last Robert Morris University Athletics championship event of the 2019-2020 season.”
