The 2020 PBC Roundball Classic, scheduled for April 14-15 at Montour High School, has been canceled, according to a statement from director John Giammarco.

In its new format debuted in 2019, the Roundball Classic featured incoming freshmen from the recruiting classes of Pitt, Duquesne and Robert Morris along with graduating WPIAL high school seniors and others.

With the public heath concern of the novel coronavirus-caused COVID-19 pandemic, the idea of bringing in players from out of town to participate in the event was untenable, even a month out.

Duquesne's 2024 March Madness Tournament coverage is sponsored by Leon's Billiards & More, Moon Golf Club and Archie's on Carson! Their contributions have allowed us to cover the Dukes run in Omaha, Nebraska. We appreciate their support!

“After careful consideration of the ever-evolving nationwide coronavirus pandemic, we have decided to cancel the 2020 PBC Roundball and all associated events scheduled for April 14-15, 2020 at Montour Athletic Center,” Giammarco wrote in a statement.

“We made this very difficult decision in order to protect the health and safety of the players, coaches, fans and event staff.”

Just another cowardly move caving into the governmental pressure based on an over hyped medical situation. Pretty soon we will cancel eating, drinking and sleeping. But hey they are just trying to protect us
