Die-Hards: Why Did Trey McGowens Transfer from Pitt?

Published

on

After hearing whispers about it during the season, Trey McGowens transferring from Pitt became official.

The sophomore guard announced on Wednesday that he was putting his name in the transfer portal and leaving the Panther program. Barring a waiver from the NCAA, McGowens will have to sit out the 2020-21 season and then have two years of eligibility remaining.

The only question left unanswered is why did McGowens decide to leave Pitt?

Well, we have the answer to that as Pittsburgh Sports Now was able to talk to McGowens and his father.

Following the news of his transfer and some analysis from Alan Saunders, PSN was able catch up with the McGowens family on Wednesday night to find out what led to the transfer.

While the family didn’t want to do a phone interview, they did send PSN a statement regarding McGowens transferring.
