Over the last year, Class of 2021 three-star Miami Northwestern linebacker Ja’Corey Hammett has developed a strong relationship with Pitt assistant and Florida ace recruiter Charlie Partridge.

”I’ve been hearing a lot from Pitt. They send me mail almost everyday,” said Hammett. “Me and Coach Partridge talk almost everyday, we have a great relationship.”

Hammett announced on Twitter on Friday that he received an offer from Pitt although he was informed that Partridge made the offer a long time before today.

”I just found out that they offered along time ago but I didn’t know,” Hammett said. “I finally asked him about how we talk everyday and I get all this mail from you guys am I ever going to get an offer from Pitt? Coach told me ,‘Yeah we’ve already offered,’, but I never knew that.

”I feel pretty good about Pitt know that I got the offer because of Calijah (Kancey) and Leslie (Smith) already being up there. I really have a good feeling about Pitt.”

Pitt has continued their recruitment of Hammett despite the fact that he gave Manny Diaz and Miami a verbal commitment back in January.

”As of right now I’m committed to Miami but my recruitment is still open,” said Hammett. “I’m going to go to the school that gives me the best shot.

”He’s selling me on the city, which is nice. Plus their relationship with the Pittsburgh Steelers and that they share a field with them and have a good bond.”

Hammett (6-foot-3, 210 pounds) told PSN that Pitt is recruiting him to play outside linebacker and that his strength is as a rusher and getting to the quarterback.

Along with Pitt and Miami, Hammett holds offers and is getting recruited by Arkansas, Nebraska, Rutgers, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Virginia. Hammett also told PSN that he plans on making an official visit to Pitt this summer.
