It’s been said by nearly every recruit that visits Pitt’s South Side practice facility how unique it is that the Panthers spend so much of their time in close proximity to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
But how much does that really matter, and how much interaction is there really between Panthers and Steelers on the South Side? A Pittsburgh Sports Now reader reached out with just that question, and though neither team is currently occupying the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex, it’s a prescient one.
After all, from a fan standpoint, that relationship begins and end at Heinz Field on fall weekends, but really, the practice facility arrangement between the teams is probably the most impactful for Pitt’s players and potential players.
Of course, the fans don’t get to see that part. They can’t, so don’t try. There are guards. So what is it like behind that fence?
