The Pitt Panthers received a commitment back in January from Philadelphia 3-star safety Javon McIntyre and been on the prowl trying to add another safety to join him in their Class of 2021.
Lots of offers have been made to potential safeties like Donovan McMillon, Stephon Hall, Shawn Asbury, William Simpkins, Trevor Woods and Rod Moore but to this point, none of decided to make a commitment to the Pitt program.
Recently, a new name has joined this crowded group as the latest junior safety on Pitt’s radar.
3-star recruit Michael Gravely (6’1′, 180) from Cleveland, Ohio received word from Archie Collins that he’d earned an offer from Pitt to go along with offers he also has from Boston College, Michigan State, Wake Forest, Colorado, Cincinnati and a number of MAC programs. He also tells me that he’s recently been hearing from Ohio State, Louisville, Northwestern and Indiana. Although he just got the official word, Gravely has been in contact with Collins and Pitt for a while now.
“I’ve been talking with and have developed a great relationship with Coach Archie Collins,” Gravely told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “We’ve developed a strong bond and he’s done a good job of staying in contact and checking on me. When he offered me, Coach Collins said that he wants me to take a seat at their table, I liked that, it was kind of fun to hear that.”
“I was very thrilled when they offered because I wasn’t really expecting it then. Since I’ve been talking to them before my junior season started, I have been working if and when it was going to come. I’ve been watching all these offers coming in and was just wondering if I’d get one.”
The hard hitting safety tells me that one of the things that all the teams have mentioned when offering is that they like his versatility. In fact, some programs are offering Gravely as an athlete, not just at safety like Pitt did.

Gravely is starting to build a nice collection of offers but tells me that he won’t be rushing into any decision and wants to make some visits before thinking of making a commitment to any program including Pitt.
“I’m not thinking of committing to Pitt or any school right now but Pitt is definitely a school I’m looking at, they’re one of my Top 10 schools, which I haven’t revealed yet, but I really like them,” said Gravely.
