Duquesne is scheduled to participate in the 2020 Maryland Showcase, featuring the Big Ten co-champion Maryland Terrapins.
The four-team event, which will be held on campus venues, will be held Nov. 16-25. Duquesne will host California Baptist on Nov. 16 and San Jose State on Nov. 18 before visiting Maryland on Nov. 22.
Duquesne basketball on Pittsburgh Sports Now is sponsored by The Summit Academy: setting young men on the path to a better future.
The games are the first three to be announced as part of Duquesne’s 2020-21 schedule, which is slated to feature the opening of UPMC Chuck Cooper Fieldhouse on campus. Duquesne played the 2019-20 season without a true home venue, playing games at Robert Morris, La Roche University and at PPG Paints Arena.
Maryland finished the 2019-20 season 24-7, ranked No. 12 in the AP Top 25 and tied with Wisconsin and Michigan State at 14-6 for the top spot in the Big Ten. The Dukes have not faced the Terrapins since 2002. Maryland has won all eight meetings between the schools.
Cal Baptist finished second in the Western Athletic Conference with a 21-10 overall record and 10-6 conference mark. In their second season of Division I play, the Lancers were not eligible to participate in postseason play.
San Jose State went 7-24 and was finished 10th in the Mountain West Conference.
The Dukes are coming off their best season since 2009, with a 21-9 record and an 11-7 mark in Atlantic-10 play. They’re projected to return all five starters and have three seniors in Michael Hughes, Tavian Dunn-Martin and Marcus Weathers.
