Die-Hards: Pitt Football Aggressively Offering High School Freshman

In any sport, coaches that are open to change and trying different strategies are ones that give themselves more of an opportunity to have long-term success.

This is something that you’re seeing with Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi as he’s been open to recruiting new states. As we’ve been reporting here on Pittsburgh Sports Now, the Panther program has aggressively moved into states such as Georgia, Virginia, and Texas and are starting to see results in terms of commitments.

Another way that Narduzzi has changed is the aggressiveness in which his program is going after underclassman. Unlike in years past, Pitt is being very bold in offering scholarships to both sophomores and freshman. Instead of spending a majority of their time focusing on the current recruiting class, the Pitt staff is recruiting three different classes at the same time.

Where it’s really noticeable is when you look at the high school freshman that have already been offered by Pitt. In fact today, Pitt extended offers to three freshman, two from talent rich DeMatha Catholic in Maryland.
