Florida 2021 3-Star WR TJ Huggins Finds Out About Offer from Pitt

The Pitt football coaches extended a number of offers on Monday to high school players in different recruiting classes.

One offer that stood out a bit was the one to wide receiver TJ Huggins from Killian High School in Miami, Florida. It was somewhat surprising that Huggins, who’s a 3-star recruit with a number of Power 5 offers, was just receiving the offer now from Charlie Partridge.

Pittsburgh Sports Now caught up with Huggins on Monday who told us that while he announced receiving the offer yesterday, he actually received the offer from Pitt a while ago but was never made aware of if by his school.

“Coach Partridge actually told my head coach and he told me about it,” said Huggins. “I’ve talked to Coach Partridge before when he came to visit our school and at that time, told me that he and the other coaches at Pitt would evaluate my film and let me know. He then asked me yesterday if I knew I had the offer and I told him ‘No’, so he told me I had one.”

After receiving this news, Huggins (6’2″, 165) now holds offers from Pitt along with Boston College, East Carolina, Florida International, Florida Atlantic, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan State, Syracuse, Toledo, Central Florida, South Florida and Virginia Tech.

“I’m a deep threat that’s fast and can take the top off the defense. I also believe that I run really good routes and have quick feet,” said Huggins.

Huggins admits that because of the delay in him finding out about the offer, that his knowledge about Pitt isn’t great but is looking forward to making a visit to “find out what’s up about Pitt.”

“The pandemic hasn’t really impacted my recruiting a ton but it has impacted me being able to go out and make visits to personally see these programs for myself. As far as future visits, I have to wait to talk to my coaches and see when we’re going to go because we’re probably going to go as a group along with other players from my team because some my teammates have the same offers. So, I think my coach will take us on a visit so we can go together.”

Huggins did admit that he knows some players that are currently on the Pitt roster like linebacker Leslie Smith, running back Vincent Davis and defensive tackle Calijah Kancey.

Pitt has received commitments from two wide receivers (Myles Alston and Jaden Bradley) and would like to add one more to their Class of 2021. Huggins can now be added to the mix with names such as Jordan Bly, Tyreek Chappell, Jayson Raines, Khalik Dinkins and Ahmari Huggins.
