The PIAA and Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine have given the go-ahead for high school teams to resume summer workouts after some confusion regarding her mask order earlier this week.
Levine, through PIAA Executive Director Robert Lombardi, clarified that players to do not need to wear masks while actively competing or during workouts, but must wear masks while on the sidelines, in the dugout or in any other location where six feet of social distancing is not possible.
Additionally, all coaches and spectators must wear masks at all times. Many schools in the area began cancelling their workouts after Levine’s order, released by Governor Tom Wolf on Wednesday, mandated mask wear for all Pennsylvanians when unable to social distance.
