The latest commitment for Bernard Clark and the Robert Morris football program comes from the state of Florida.

Class of 2021 athlete Shakespeare Louis announced this morning his intentions to become a Colonial as he committed to Robert Morris. Louis comes from Clearwater Academy, a program that produces Division I prospects on a yearly basis, including Pitt defensive end Habbukkuk Baldonado.

Being from Florida and never making a visit to RMU, Louis admits that caused him some hesitation but in the end, Clark and his assistants recruited him well and the Zoom Interviews of the university and the football program were enough to get him aboard.

”Today means a lot to me,” Louis told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “Just knowing that I’m going to a place that the coaches appreciate me and I get to play D-I football. Not a lot of players are able to do that so I’m grateful for that. Today is a really big deal to me.”

Without the ability to see the campus and facilities, what sold Louis on RMU get him to feel comfortable enough to make a commitment.

“Through our conversations, I just really got the feeling that the coaches were genuine people and that’s something that’s very important to me. During the recruiting process, they got me to feel that if I went to Robert Morris that it would be home.

“I feel that Coach Clark is a really great guy and my first impression of him was great. Yesterday, I had a zoom meeting with him and the coaching staff and Coach Clark is a guy that I really felt that I could trust.”

Louis said that Robert Morris is recruiting him as a hybrid player that can play strong safety, free safety or as a rover in their defense and a couple of his biggest strengths are his speed and physicality.
