As we close in on the start of another Pitt football season, a freshman Pitt player is starting to receive some national buzz.
Wide receiver Jordan Addison continues to receive high praise from Pat Narduzzi for his on-field performance and now he’s getting recognition nationally.
Barton Simmons from 247 Sports released his true freshman preseason All-American team and it’s included the dynamic playmaker from Maryland.
Simmons’ three starting wide receivers were Addison, Jalin Hyatt (Tennessee) and Lideatrick Griffin (Mississippi State).
Addison has been a camp headliner with Narduzzi calling him “special” and that “he’s going to be a good football player, real good.”
Addison has been competing for the starting slot receiver role adjacent to expected outside starters Taysir Mack and Jared Wayne. Tre Tipton and Shocky Jaques-Louis are the other candidates for the final starting spot.
Credit Chris Beatty for leading the recruiting of Addison as Pitt held off a late charge from Maryland along with other offers from Notre Dame, Michigan, South Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
The last Pitt freshman to receive this sort of preseason national headlines was safety Jordan Whitehead in 2015.
