Pittsburgh talk radio host Wendy Bell will not be a part of Pitt’s pregame show on 93.7 The Fan, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told Pittsburgh Sports Now.
Bell, the afternoon host on The Fan’s sister station, KDKA-AM, was a part of The Fan’s pregame show in 2019, which aired before the Pitt Radio Network broadcast began.
Bell’s choice was controversial, both because she replaced popular former Pitt and West Allegheny star Dorin Dickerson on the the broadcast, and because of the controversial nature of her right-wing radio broadcast.
Bell was fired from WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh in 2016 after a racially insensitive Facebook post and has touted a partisan agenda on her show since becoming a full-time host at KDKA-AM in 2018.
KDKA-TV formerly shared ownership with the pair of similarly branded radio stations, but no longer does, after the radio stations were sold to Entercom. KDKA-TV has twice had to remind its viewers that the controversial Bell is not employed by the station, most recently on Tuesday.
According to one source, Dickerson is expected to return to the pregame show, along with 93.7 evening host and Post-Gazette columnist Paul Zeise and 93.7 weekend host and KDKA-TV sports anchor Bob Pompeani.
If she doesn’t mix her politics with the broadcast then her political beliefs shouldn’t be an issue……it’s bullshit
Agree
Glad she is gone.

So Jeff Capel that openly supports BLM who ACTUALLY, you know, burn buildings, loots businesses, and assults people that disagree with them can still coach for Pitt, but Wendy SAYS some things people didnt like, on a different show yet to boot, and loses her job with Pitt. That sounds about right in the mind of a progressive.
@BILL. Stating inaccurate talking points to justify your fear of progress… sounds about right for a conservative.
I see… So progress to a progressive is burning down innocent people’s businesses and assaulting innocent people for having different opinions. By the way, show me what I said that was inaccurate. There’s nothing wrong with eradicating racism on all sides, but when its done in a facist way it becomes a problem. You can’t force people to like or support anyone. Some people will be racist no matter what. All you can do is try to show racist people the error of their ways in a logical manner.
Dont pretend you’re not oversimplifying and generalizing a movement that’s long over due by conflating opportunistic rioting with the general ideals of BLm. At the same time you’re defending a person who literally said they should shoot people for protesting, and that the silent majority, which I assume you fancy yourself, will come out guns ablazing. that is not normal political discourse, it’s not big government vs small government stuff here. Its absurd you defend that behavior as”saying something people dont like” when youre perfectly willing to throw the whole BLM movement into your narrow perspective to make your point.
First off i’ll thank you for not name calling and actually having a mostly civil debate. I’m not oversimplifying or generalizing anything. I’m simply stating what I and many other people have seen with our own eyes. You don’t fight racism with more racism and facism. You only create more racism and facism. That isnt really a hard concept to grasp. Please dont “assume” anything about me. You don’t know me. I think you generalizing me as coming out “guns blazing” is way off course. I’d never want to shoot or kill anyone. Its not my goal in life to… Read more »
I agree with your sentiment. I did not mean to suggest that you personally would shoot anyone. Just that you might consider yourself in the “silent majority.” I did assume that, because, well, I read your original post. However Bell herself suggested that the silent majority is ready to come out a blazing. I didn’t say you would shoot anyone, but she is certainly implying it about a lot of people who consider themselves part of that group. Now, let’s focus on the original argument and post. I will argue that you are still incorrect suggesting that Capel’s support of… Read more »
Again, thank you for a civil debate. I think its good to debate like this because maybe we both learn something from each other. I will agree, Wendy does not need to tell people to start shooting protesters. Its poor taste, dangerous, and really makes us no better than the violence that comes our way. If I implied that Jeff Capel was advocating violence, I was wrong. That was not my intention. I do not want to see him fired. If I disagree with his message that strongly, I would just change the channel. There are many peaceful protects happening.… Read more »
BLM is a terrorist organization. Most of the protested police shootings were justified.
Btw, you attacked Jeff Capel for supporting the BLM movement, and then conflated his support of that with rioting. That’s inaccurate. Then justified the words of someone ACTUALLY inciting violence.
I didn’t attack Jeff Capel. I said that he openly supported BLM. BLM incites violence as did Wendy. Two wrongs do not make a right. Inciting violence and committing violence are two different things. My point is that Jeff Capel still has a job with Pitt and Wendy doesn’t. That is hypocracy in its purist form. I don’t want to see Jeff Capel fired, he has a right to his opinion. Wendy Bell has a right to her opinion as well. You don’t just get to say and do whatever you want and then cover your ears and stomp your… Read more »
Did Wendy have a job with Pitt of was it with the radio station?
The radio station.
Pitt should hire her, but they’ve already proven to be pussies. You fit right in…
