Seven Pitt Players Held Out of Opener for COVID-19 Protocols; Four Starters Not Dressed

Published

on

Seven Pitt players will not be in attendance for the team’s home opener on Saturday against Austin Peay due to COVID-19 protocols, the team announced.

Pitt is not announcing the identities of the players. Starting defensive end Rashad Weaver announced that he had received a two positive tests out of four this week and is not playing. Fellow defensive line starter Keyshon Camp was not in attendance for warmups before the game. The rest of Pitt’s two-deep appeared to be dressed as usual.

A number of other Pitt players are not dressed to play, but are in attendance, including cornerback Damarri Mathis, who is out for the year with an upper-body injury, starting tight end Lucas Krull (undisclosed), wide receiver Taysir Mack (undisclosed), wide receiver Will Gipson (undisclosed), outside linebacker Leslie Smith (lower body), offensive lineman Michael Statham (undisclosed), defensive lineman Bryce Nelms (undisclosed), offensive lineman Matt Altsman (undisclosed) and defensive back Gus Sunseri (undisclosed).

Deslin Alexandre, Habakkuk Baldonado and John Morgan are expected to fill in at defensive end, in addition to fellow starter Patrick Jones II. Tyler Bentley, Calijah Kancey and David Green and will work alongside Devin Danielson at defensive tackle.

Redshirt freshman Kyi Wright and junior college transfer Daniel Moraga worked with the top groups at tight end in warmups, while offensive lineman Grant Carrigan, who used to play tight end, was back working with that group and wearing No. 84.

At wide receiver, Jared Wayne should start at the split end position in place of Mack.

Good thing they held these guys out. They might have passed their asymptomatic symptoms to other players and ended up with a bunch of asymptomatic players which would of course would be a nightmare. Much better to keep them from living out their dreams for sure.

The virus is real, in spite of what you’ve heard from the Whitehouse. 900 healthcare workers have died. Are you better protected, smarter, or more careful in your lifestyle than them? Listen, No one will play you if you lie about this and you will get caught. The game is not all about you. It’s about team. It’s about the “Loyal Foe”. It’s about integrity. Listen to Jason Pinnock’s recent interview on PSN. Very inspirational about dealing with adversity and what he told fellow defensive back, Damarri Mathis.

They used 2.2 million dead to justify this idiocy. They have been caught multiple times adding deaths that had nothing to do with covid and still don’t come close. This is an exercise in population control. The reaction to covid may go down as the dumbest world wide decision in history. “Loyal foe” lol. F’n sheep.

Moron Mike,
I’ll match my degree in microbiology against yours in conspiracy theories. Please go to a Trump rally without a mask. Herman Cain wants to meet you.
“Loyal foe” is in the Pitt fight song, not that you’d know.

I’d forgot about that, Mike, but you keep helping Trump. He can get us there. You know he’s colluding with all the dictators that hate America.

You don’t get much do you? What does your degree have to do with anything? The numbers are there and the inflated numbers don’t come close to the reasoning for shutdown.
So what if it’s in the song?
Get Trump elected? This will go down as Trump’s biggest mistake. Not exactly trying to help him with my insignificant rant,,, as if it would. Geeze. Yep, that’s why we are living through the dumbest year in modern history.

Yeah, the degree means I’ve studied epidemiology. The estimate of 2.2 million came from England but Fauci corrected it and told Trump that 100,000 people could die if the shutdown didn’t continue through April. Trump was told the new estimate in early April. Trump liked to use the bigger number because it would look like he saved 2 million lives.
If you’re alright with 200,000 people being dead, you are incredibly selfish.

The number is inflated, the evidence is overwhelming it’s nowhere near 200k which makes it a bad flu. The lockdown drug it out. Why isn’t everyone in Florida dead? They opened early and all of your heroes predicted disaster. North Dakota didn’t do as they were told, why aren’t they sorry? Why aren’t all the Swedes dead? Why is every friggin model used to predict how this would progress terribly wrong? I find it amusing you bring up Trump again. Can you say TDS? You are incredibly weak. Learn to think for yourself, our education system is designed to make… Read more »

Wrong, wrong , wrong. The number is probably underestimated.
This is shown by the excess mortality rate seen in the US at this time. If you want to know the truth don’t listen to Mike go to the CDC’s site and look at the numbers.
Yes, I will be back to shut you down. You’re a liar and you know it!

Just the flu huh? Here’s what your president said,
“This is deadly stuff,”
“You just breathe the air and that’s how it’s passed,”
“And so that’s a very tricky one. That’s a very delicate one. It’s also more deadly than even your strenuous flu.”

Lol. Shut me down? Ahahahaha. You should have attended some debate classes. You made this weird. How full of yourself are you that you think this is influencing others? Lol. This story is old and we are probably the only ones reading this. I haven’t lied about anything. Seriously you are not good at this. Lol. “Your president” lol. He is your president too Clarke. You do alot of assuming which leads you to bringing up insignificant points again and again. We disagree I tried to be nice and end with good day and you came back like an antifatard.… Read more »
