No. 24 Pitt has opened as a 13-point favorite for this Saturday’s home game against unranked NC State at Heinz Field, according to BetOnline.ag.
The 3-0 Panthers have started their season with wins over Austin Peay, Syracuse and Louisville while in their friendly confines on the North Shore, but are 0-1 against the spread.
Pitt’s three-point win against the Cardinals resulted in a push. Pitt did not cover 20.5 points against the Orange and the opener against Austin Peay was taking off betting boards because the second half was played with just 10-minute quarters.
NC State has started the season 1-1, with a win over Wake Forest and a loss at Virginia Tech on Saturday.
The Wolfpack are 1-1 against the spread, winning outright as home underdogs against the Demon Deacons, but failing to cover 6.5 in a 45-24 loss to the Hokies.
Saturday’s game will be played on ACC Network with a noon kickoff. Pitt and Heinz Field have not yet announced a stadium seating plan for fans for games in the month of October.
Pitt and NC State have played 10 times overall, with the Panthers holding a 5-4-1 edge in the all-time series. NC State has won each of the last two games, a 35-17 decision at 2017 in Heinz Field, the only game between the teams as ACC opponents, and a 38-31 win in Raleigh in 2007.
Pitt’s last victory over NC State came in the 2001 Tangerine Bowl, a 34-19 win in Orlando, Florida.
Pitt is 3-0 to start its season for the first time since 2014. The Panthers have not won four straight games to start a season since 2000.
Pitt/Heinz Field won’t be announcing plans…Tyrant Wolf will tell you what your plans are. Zero reasons to not allow a limited number of fans, especially parents. ZERO.
Tell Wolfe to go suck eggs and take the 13 and a half.
MEANT TAKE THE 13, but it really won’t matter
