Something to keep an eye on for today’s game. The Pitt logo is on bare turf at midfield, instead of having a circular white background, as it usually does.
That’s because the Heinz Field crew has replaced the center section of turf that it sits on. But they haven’t done the entire center section, as the pro hash marks are still visible on the rest of the field. All that’s been replaced is the section between the college hash marks and in between the 45-yard lines.
That means there is a horizontal seam at each 45-yard line. It’s a dry day, so it shouldn’t be a huge issue, but if players have footing issues around midfield, that will likely be the cause.
