Addison, Bright, A.J. Davis, Wayne, Wright Return for Pitt, Three Starters Didn’t Travel to BC

BOSTON — Pitt running back A.J. Davis, linebacker Cam Bright and wide receivers Jordan Addison and Jared Wayne and tight end Kyi Wright appear to be set to return to the team’s lineup from injuries in Saturday’s game against Boston College, but three starters did not travel with the team to Boston.

Addison, Pitt’s leading receiver in terms of receptions, left Pitt’s Week 4 loss to NC State with an upper-body injury and did not return to action. Bright left the NC State game with a left leg injury and didn’t return. Davis left Pitt’s Week 3 win over Louisville with a lower body injury and did not dress against NC State.

Wright has missed Pitt’s last two games and Wayne has missed two of the the first four Panthers contests this season with undisclosed issues.

Defensive end Keyshon Camp (undisclosed), middle linebacker Wendell Davis (right knee), tight end Lucas Krull (left knee) are three starters that did not travel with the team to Boston.

Maryland transfer DJ Turner picked up most of the slack at receiver with Addison and Wayne out. Vincent Davis, who has started Pitt’s last three games at running back, saw increased usage with A.J. Davis unavailable. Grant Carrigan and Daniel Moraga saw additional playing time without Wright or starter Lucas Krull available at tight end.
Camp will likely be replaced by a rotation of players that could include Tyler Bentley, Devin Danielson and Calijah Kancey. Davis has been spelled by Chase Pine, while Wright should be expected to fill in for Krull.

Pitt will once again have no players miss the game due to COVID-19 protocols.

Other injured Panthers that did not make the trip include defensive end Habakkuk Baldonado (lower body), defensive tackle Bryce Nelms (undisclosed non-football), linebacker Leslie Smith (lower body), offensive lineman Michael Statham.
Freshman linebacker Solomon DeShields traveled with the team after missing Pitt’s last three games with an undisclosed injury suffered in the opener against Austin Peay.

Other scholarship players not on the travel roster are defensive end Emmanuel Belgrave, defensive end Bam Brima, offensive lineman Jason Collier, offensive lineman Liam Dick, wide receiver Will Gipson, defensive lineman Noah Palmer, cornerback Hunter Sellers, offensive lineman Branson Taylor, defensive end Sam Williams.

If Pitt continues to stay with Narduzzi, Whipple, and Borberly they will never be more than a 6 win team.,

Narduzzi needs to do some soul searching regardless of the outcome of this game.
