PSN Poll: What’s Pitt’s Biggest Problem?

Published

on

The Pitt Panthers suffered another heartbreaking loss, this week losing 31-30 in OT to Boston College.

After having thoughts of a 5-0 start, Pitt is now 3-2 and facing the hardest part of their schedule with upcoming games against Miami and Notre Dame.

Considering this season started with such promise, it’s hard for many to believe Pitt is 3-2 and are now wondering what’s wrong?

Our PSN Poll question is, who or what do you blame for Pitt’s disappointing start?

What's Been the Biggest Cause of Pitt's 3-2 Start?

Can I select a tie with Whipple and Narduzzi?

After going 5-6 or 6-5… Here’s how the end of season Lyke to Narduzzi conversation should go…

“I appreciate all your efforts and for your role in being on the competition committee which helped bring me to Pitt. I have given you every chance possible to avoid this conversation and decision. But you have left me with no choice and we need to go in a different direction.”

HL’s biggest mistakes as AD is extending Pat’s contract a few years ago. Wasn’t it a seven year deal and this is, what, the third year. She’ll probably give him a pass due to the circumstances with this season but let him know that next season is make or break,

Why are we trying to get rid of Narduzzi? What kind of coach can you expect to replace him? This program needs continuity. We had two 1 point losses back to back which sucks, but this is premature. OUR PROGRAM WAS ON LIFE SUPPORT 5 YEARS AGO.

The fans in this town are delusional. We will end up with another Todd Graham high octane situation.

Local Troll: I agree! Narduzzi is probably the best we can get and recruiting is improving. We need younger minded OC & DC. We are still in the 80’s Offense and 90’s Defense. Our O-line is terrible and our slow “All-“American” safeties are NEVER in position on passing plays. They are too worried about stopping the run.
We aren’t as bad as our fans think, but need to modernize.

Lots of them

Only thing that might help is no visits due to Sweet and Sour Sniffles.

Narduzzi has a way of holding down this team. He gets beat by less talented teams. (Pitt has more talent than BC Or NC St). He sucks the life out of the team in 2nd half of games. This is going to be a bloodbath of a season. He’s not a winner. he’s a .500 coach. Always was and always will be.

One other point, I think Pat N slows down the Pitt offense, Totally dicks around with the plays and play calling. Horrible. Those pass routes outside the hash marks are all because of Narduzzi. He won’t allow any routes in the middle of the field Just like Dave Wandstadt. Same principle. Its easy to scout Pitt.

We play slow because we don’t spread the field, run inside 95% of the time, never throw in the middle of the field (beats a zone every time), and safeties play up like LBs. I think we have a top 25 team but terrible coaches/play calling on offense and defense.
BTW: If we take another time out (on defense) on third down, I think I’m gonna stop following Pitt! NO ONE else does that, because it doesn’t work! Force their Offense to play in 20 seconds, don’t give them 2 minutes to plan a play. TERRIBLE coaching!

And all you need to know if is this Pitt HC choose Joey Yellen over Jurkovic. That should tell you all you need know about Narduzzi

I think he holds grudges and passed on him because Jurkovec originally passed on Narduzzi.

Thought Yellen committed a week or so before Jurkovec entered transfer portal? I remember thinking it was unfortunate timing. Not that Yellen couldn’t be exceptional, just bad timing for our prospects with Jurkovic. There was also an article recently with Jurkovic giving some quotes. Think he said Narduzzi did reach out to him but with Pickett the obvious starter this year, and having to compete with Yellen and Beville, he wanted to go to BC to compete and start immediately. Just bad timing there and BC was a better immediate fit for him

I picked narduzzi ,he’s responsibility for the hiring of the offensive cord. Which the last 2 hires have been awful ,also borbly was a bad hire as well since this line couldnt compete in the mac conference, now lets go to the tight end position what a joke that is salem another awful coach ,after yr 6 we should be better than this but we’re worse and that’s on narduzzi

If Narduzzi has the kind of honor and integrity that he claims he has he would consider resigning and letting Charlie Partridge take over. His unit is the only group that looks coached.

That is ridiculous. Who is going to replace Pat? Serious question. Who is out three that can come in here and do a better job? Our recruiting of finally trending in the right direction because we have stability. Guys around the country will see Jaylen, Paris, Rashad, and Pat get there number called on draft day and want to come to Pitt. Rebuilds at Pitt will take at least 10 years. I agree losses like this will shorten Narduzzi’s leash but he should not even be close to getting fired. Pitt fans and media should be careful what they wish… Read more »

Play calling. Plain and simple. Whipple is an improvement over Watson, but that’s like saying Clinton was better than Obama…
