It was very clear that Pitt’s Patrick Jones and SirVocea Dennis were two of the best players on the field Saturday and they were recognized for that by the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Jones and Dennis were each won ACC Player of the Week awards for their performances against Boston College.
Jones was named the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week following his three-sack game. This is the second time Jones has won this award, and he now owns seven sacks in five games this season. That sack total is the most in all of college football.
In his first college start, Dennis filled up the stat sheet with 11 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and was named the ACC Linebacker of the Week. It was the first time a Pitt defender recorded 4.5 tackles for loss in a game since Ejuan Price did so against Oklahoma State in 2016.
Despite not starting, Dennis is tied with Paris Ford for the team lead in tackles with 31. Dennis moved up the Pitt linebacker depth chart following injuries to Wendall Davis and Cam Bright.
Really enjoyed Rashad Weaver’s strip of Jurkovec. He made BC’s 6’5″ 250m lb QB look like a child.
I’d rather win games than “honors”.
