Pitt wrestling head coach Keith Gavin will come out of his wrestling retirement on Saturday night.
Gavin, who was an NCAA champion at Pitt and was also a United States champion during his wrestling career, will compete in the FloWrestling 8-Man Challenge on Saturday night at 8 p.m.
Pitt wrestling coverage on Pittsburgh Sports Now is sponsored by the Pittsburgh Wrestling Club.
Gavin will wrestle at 195 pounds, in a bracket full of former NCAA All-Americans Sammy Brooks, Gabe Dean, Drew Foster, Nate Jackson, Taylor Lujan, Myles Martin and Shakur Rasheed. The grand prize winner will bring home $20,000.
Gavin has been Pitt’s head coach since 2017. He last wrestled competitively in 2016. He was the 2008 NCAA champion at 174 pounds and a two-time US champ at 86 kilograms.
The event will be broadcast on FloWrestling’s subscription-only service.
