Duquesne To Open 2020-21 Season Playing in Indianapolis Bubble Tournament

The Duquesne men’s basketball team has finalized the early portion of its 2020-21 schedule.

Pittsburgh Sports Now has confirmed that Duquesne has agreed to take part in a four-team tournament that will take place in a bubble in Indianapolis. Cincinnati and Loyola-Chicago will also take part in this event but the fourth team hasn’t been agreed upon yet.

It was previously announced that the Dukes would also be included in a nine-team bubble event that will be played at the Yum Center in Louisville. Duquesne’s three opponents will be UNC Greensboro (Nov. 29), Winthrop (Dec. 1) and Arkansas Little-Rock (Dec. 3).

A source tells PSN that this tournament taking place in Indianapolis will be the opening games on Duquesne’s schedule and is likely to start on Nov. 25. The Dukes will play two games in this event and one of the games will be against Cincinnati.

When looking at the confirmed opponents for Duquesne, here is how they rank in the initial KenPom Ratings for the 2020-21 season. Duquesne starts the season ranked No. 84.

DUQUESNE’S NON-CONFERENCE OPPONENTS:
Loyola-Chicago: 47th
Cincinnati: 59th
UNC Greensboro: 93rd
Winthrop: 115th
Arkansas Little-Rock: 132nd

Duquesne is coming off a 21-win season and with with 5 starters returning, are looking to play as many quality non-conference opponents as possible in order to build a resume for possible NCAA Tournament bid in March.
