Pitt safety Brandon Hill has been named the ACC Defensive Back of the Week for his performance in his first career start in Pitt’s win over Florida State on Saturday.
Hill tied for a team high with seven tackles in Pitt’s win over the Seminoles and also had a game-sealing interception return for a touchdown.

“I feel like my first start went pretty good,” Hill said. “You know I had to get the first-game jitters out of the way, but after that, I slowed the game down for myself and I feel like I’m surrounded by a good group of guys. It’s easy to play with the group of guys I’m with now.”
As a secondary, Pitt held Florida State to 144 yards passing on 23 of 41 (56.1%). The Panthers had two other interceptions in addition to Hill’s and did not allow a passing touchdown.
A redshirt freshman from Apopka, Florida, Hill was a four-star recruit out of Wekiva High School. He was inserted into the lineup on Saturday after All-ACC safety Paris Ford opted out for the remainder of the season.
