Bernard Clark and the Robert Morris Colonial football program had their fall season wiped out because of COVID-19 but they’ll be back on turf at Joe Walton Stadium this spring.

That became more official Monday with the release of the Colonials 2021 spring football schedule, which includes a big non-conference game.

Robert Morris will start the start on February 27 with a non-conference game with James Madison, who played last season in the FCS National Championship with current Dallas Cowboys quarterback Ben DiNucci.

The other games announced were their first games as members of the Big South Conference. Robert Morris was originally scheduled to join in the Fall of 2021 but that was moved up and will be eligible for the Big South Championship and an automatic berth in the postseason.

The Big South Conference will feature five teams playing a four-game conference schedule to determine the Big South’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Playoffs. The five teams competing include Charleston Southern, Gardner-Webb, Kennesaw State, Monmouth and RMU.

Clark’s team will open their 2021 home schedule and play their first Big South game when they host Monmouth on March 13. These two programs resume a rivalry that started in 1994 and lasted until 2014.

The remaining Big South portion includes road games against Charleston Southern (March 20) and Kennesaw State (April 3) and then a home game against Gardner-Webb (April 10).

The schedule is not complete as Robert Morris is still looking to add another non-conference games or two.
