Pitt’s Kirk Christodoulou Named National Punter of the Week

A member of the Pitt football team that’s not received the attention for his recent performances that he probably should have is punter Kirk Christodoulou.

That changed on Tuesday as Christodoulou was named the Ray Guy National Punter of the Week. In Saturday’s game against Florida State, Christodoulou punted five times for an average of 41 yards per punt, with two of those punts placed inside the 15-yard line. In fact, one of those two punts was placed at the 14-yard line and three plays later, cornerback AJ Woods intercepted a pass, which sparked Pitt’s comeback.

The Ray Guy Award is annually presented to college football’s top punters and will be presented at the end of the season.

For the year, Christodoulou is averaging 44.7 yards per punt, which ranks fifth in the ACC and 20th nationally and has placed 17 of his punts inside the 20-yard line.
