Despite concerns over whether or not a season would even be able to be played, the 2020 WPIAL football season is in the books.
Congratulations to Pittsburgh Central Catholic (6A), Pine-Richland (5A), Thomas Jefferson (4A), Central Valley (3A), Beaver Falls (2A) and Jeannette (1A) for winning their respective championships in their respective classifications.
Due to COVID-19 issues, Central Catholic was forced to forfeit Saturday’s PIAA quarterfinal game against McDowell so their season is finished, however the other 5 WPIAL champions will play in PIAA semifinal games this weekend.
The PIAA has released opponents, dates, times, and locations for these matchups:
PIAA 5A: Pine-Richland vs. Governor Mifflin, Saturday at Hollidaysburg, 1 PM.
PIAA 4A: Oil City at Thomas Jefferson, Friday, Kickoff at 7 PM.
PIAA 3A: Central Valley vs. Bedford, Friday at Altoona High School, 7 PM
PIAA 2A: Beaver Falls vs. Wilmington, Friday at Geneva College, 7 PM
PIAA 1A: Jeannette at Reynolds, Friday, Kickoff at 7 PM.
