For their final home game of the 2020 season, Pitt has opened as a 3-point underdog against Virginia Tech, according to odds released on Sunday by BetOnline.ag.
Pitt’s game this past weekend at Georgia Tech was postponed because of COVID-19 concerns and has been rescheduled for December 12. The Panthers last game was a 41-17 win over Florida State that snapped a four-game losing streak.
The Panthers are 1-5 against the spread this season, finally covering a line last weekend at Florida State, when they won by 14 as 1.5-point favorites. Pitt couldn’t cover as underdogs against Notre Dame and Miami, lost outright as favorites against Boston College and Miami, didn’t cover as a favorite against Syracuse, pushed against Louisville and had the opener against Austin Peay taken off the board.
Virginia Tech, like Pitt, has an overall record of 4-4 and are coming off a 25-24 loss to #9 Miami. The Hokies four wins this season have come against NC State (45-24), Duke (38-31), Boston College (40-14) and Louisville (42-35), while their losses were to Miami, Liberty (38-35), Wake Forest (23-16) and North Carolina (56-45).
Pitt and Virginia Tech have met 19 times overall, with the Hokies holding a 11-8 all-time advantage.
