Rodney Hill is talented junior athlete from Bulloch Academy in Statesboro, Georgia that’s starting to pile up Power Five offers, with his most recent one coming from the Pitt Panthers.
While he’s in the process of getting to know more about the Pitt program, Hill is very familiar with someone on their current roster. In fact, it’s a player that he’s grown up watching and in a way idolizing.

“Rashad Battle is someone that I really know,” Hill told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “Actually, even before I started getting recruited by colleges, I was so into Rashad because he was so good. I used to text him to see if he’d text me back one day and he did and we had a conversation. I look up to him a lot and it goes way before I started getting recruited. Now that I see he’s up there at Pitt and he’s having a good time and getting playing time, I like to see that. Rashad was so good, I really looked up to him.”
Hill (6-foot, 175 pounds) now has collected offers from Akron, East Carolina, Maryland, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia. The news on Tuesday from Pitt wasn’t something that he was totally expecting.
“I was very shocked but very happy when I got the news,” Hill said. “I called Coach Mickey Jacobs this morning and he took me on a virtual tour of the campus and facilities. I was very impressed with the facilities and towards the end of the call, he extended me an offer. I’ve been talking with Pitt since the beginning of our football season in August. I didn’t think he was going to offer because I was waiting for the relationship process to go further but when he did I was shocked and also excited.

“I really like the academics at Pitt. Also, I really like how they share their facilities with the Pittsburgh Steelers. I like the environment and vibe I get from the coaches and how nice they are and how they really keep things real with you.”
As far as what position Pitt is recruiting Hill for, that’s not been determined, because he’s capable of playing three different positions in college and is more than happy to play any of them.
“They believe that I can ball out at any position that I play because I’m an athlete. I can play on defense, wide receiver, running back, kick returner, I’m just an all-around player,” said Hill. “I don’t really have a favorite position. Whatever position a college wants me to play in order to help the team, I can and will do that. If they want me to play defense, I’ll lock up with my man and do that. If they need a wide receiver, I’ll go out and make plays there, same with running back. Playing different positions comes pretty easy to me because I practice all three of them a lot during the year.”
Hill becomes the 21st player from Georgia in the Class of 2022 to receive an offer from Pitt.
