AT&T SportsNet, Verizon Come to Carriage Agreement in Time for Pitt Football Finale

Published

on

AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh is back on the air for Verizon FiOS customers, and just in time for Pitt football fans.

The regional sports network owned by AT&T was pulled from the airwaves for Verizon fiber-optic customers on Sept. 30 after a dispute over a new contract between the telecommunication giants.

That caused Pitt fans that are Verizon customers — a group that has swelled in the last year thanks to Comcast cables’s refusal to add the ACC Network — without the ability to watch during the men’s basketball season opener against St. Francis on Wednesday.

Next week, the gridiron Panthers are scheduled to appear on AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh, when they’ll face Georgia Tech in Atlanta at 7 p.m. The network also carries the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pitt Panthers and some West Virginia athletics events in addition to its contract with the ACC.

AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh and Verizon announced that the new contract represents a long-term agreement.

Can we get whoever the mediator of this negotiation was to get on the Comcast/ACCN deal next?

Got rid of Comcast as soon as Football Season Started. Switched to Verizon Internet with Hulu Live. Lost the Pens/Pirate Games, but now I got to watch every Pitt Football Game this past year, except this last one. Cable bill went down from $225 a month to $140. Also can rewind programs to the beginning. That extra 80 bucks are not worth it just to watch Pens/Pirates. Comcast will never get the ACC Network. They will continue to lose customers. I should have switched over last year, I could kick myself. So much happier!

You better believe that the BigPretend is pressuring “ it’s not Comcastic “ to not get ACCN.
