Since taking over the Pitt women’s basketball program, Lance White’s recruiting has not included a player from the WPIAL, but that changed Wednesday night as the Panthers landed a major recruit.
Chartiers Valley Class of 2022 guard Aislin Malcolm has announced her decision to stay home and play for the Pitt Panthers. She becomes the first WPIAL player to commit to the Pitt women’s program since Alayna Gribble (Norwin High School) back in 2016.
Before deciding on Pitt, Malcolm also held offers from Boston College, Charlotte, Colgate, Columbia, Davidson, George Washington, Lafayette, Northwestern, Penn State, Penn and Richmond.
Malcolm was recently named to ESPN’s Class of 2022 Top 100 Watch List and named one of the Top 20 guards in the country.
Pittsburgh Sports Now spoke to a local college basketball talent evaluator who provided this evaluation of Malcolm: “She is an extremely high-level shooter that was invited to a really prestigious All-American camp this year. She is likely a point guard at the next level. Aislin is an elite 3-point shooter and passer.”
Another thing you can call Malcolm is a winner as she’s never lost a high school basketball game. Malcolm plays for the Western Pennsylvania Bruins Under Armour AAU team.
