The highest ranked player from Western Pennsylvania is 4-star Gateway safety Derrick Davis, who’s headed to play for LSU. Davis, who was the area’s most recruited player since Terrelle Pryor, is ranked #92. Prior to committing to LSU, Davis had offers from nearly every major program in the country and choose the Tigers over Ohio State, Penn State and Pitt.
Coming in right behind Davis at #93 is future Pitt defensive tackle Elliot Donald from Central Catholic High School. Like Davis, Donald was a 4-star recruit with a long list of offers from some of the best football programs in the country. Donald, however, decided to stay home and help anchor Pitt’s defensive line. Donald could’ve had a higher ranking but didn’t have any film from his senior season after opting out because of COVID-19 concerns.
Another player that’s expected to play a huge role on Pitt’s defense in the near future is 4-star defensive end Nahki Johnson from West Mifflin High School. Johnson is an elite pass-rusher and could very well become Charlie Partridge’s next star defensive end. Johnson, who was the first member of Pitt’s Class of 2021, is ranked by Rivals as the 169th best player in the class.
The final member of Rivals’ Top 250 list is Peters Township 4-star safety Donovan McMillon, who decided to take his talents to the University of Florida. McMillon was the big story of this local recruiting season, going from someone with very few offers last November to one of the most recruited safeties in the country.
Since Pryor – Shell, Ford, and Dorian Johnson were all way more heavily recruited than Davis.
