As National Letter of Intent Day approaches, the wave of de-commitments continue.

2021 4-star DE Naquan Brown (Ocean Lakes High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia) announced on Thursday that he was de-committing from LSU. This is interesting because Pitt was heavily pursuing Brown before he choose LSU.

”I would like to thank the coaching staff at LSU for offering me the opportunity to play at the next level. After carefully weighing my options, I have decided that I will be reopening my recruitment and De-commit from LSU. I wish all the best to LSU football. God Bless.”

When originally committing, Brown’s final six choices were LSU, Pitt, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Miami and Tennessee.

PSN has been told that Pitt intends on pursuing Brown again to add them to their Class of 2021, which is ranked 20th by Rivals.

If you’re looking for things Pitt has going for them in trying to land this highly skilled defensive player: 1) Pitt is one of the few places that Brown has visited in person, as he’s been to Pittsburgh twice. With no visits allowed, this could be important. 2) Chris Beatty has been his chief recruiter and made a positive impression on him. 3) His high school teammate is Pitt 2021 commitment Myles Alston, who will no doubt be talking to Brown to try and steer him towards Pitt.

Brown (6’3”, 200) is a Rivals Top 200 recruit and received offers from Boston College, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, NC State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Penn State, Purdue, South Carolina, TCU, Tennessee, Virginia and Virginia Tech.

With Jones and Weaver moving on, could be one of the next great DE’s to play in this defense geared towards getting after the qb.
