Wednesday’s Robert Morris at West Virginia men’s basketball game has been canceled due to COVID-19 protocols with the RMU team according to a Tuesday evening announcement by WVU.
The Colonials and No. 11 Mountaineers had been scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at WVU Coliseum, in what would have been the home opener for West Virginia and the first game against a Division I opponent for Robert Morris.
RMU has played just one game this season after having had several other games postponed or canceled due to the team being shut down with COVID-19 issues in November.
The Mountaineers are 4-1, with a win at Georgetown in the Big 12-Big East Battle on Saturday, a loss to No. 1 Gonzaga in Indianapolis on Dec. 2 and three wins at the Crossover Classic in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
West Virginia’s next game is scheduled for Dec. 13 at 1 p.m. against No. 19 Richmond.
The Colonials defeated NAIA Point Park, 75-57 in their season opener on Dec. 5 at UPMC Events Center. Robert Morris currently does not have another non-conference game scheduled before the Colonials’ Horizon League opener at home against Cleveland State on Dec. 19.
