An interesting move by Pitt on the eve of National Signing Day.
The Panthers extended an offer to 2021 3-star defensive back Marlen Sewell from Shades Valley High School in Irondale, Alabama. Sewell is already committed to Vanderbilt but keep in mind, they’ve already fired head coach Derek Mason.

Sewell (6-foot, 185 pounds) has not given a public statement as to whether he plans on still honoring his commitment to Vanderbilt, which he made on November 30th. At the time of his commitment, Sewell stated his attraction to Vanderbilt was a combination of the academics, playing in the SEC and Nashville just being a few hours from his hometown.
Prior to his commitment, Sewell also held Power Five offers from Duke, Kansas, Maryland and Texas Tech. Many recruits experts believe that Sewell is a high-end recruit that would have had a lot more offers if he would have been able to attend camps and get evaluated in the spring.
Another thing that coaches like about Sewell is the versatility he could provide by playing safety, cornerback or possibly the STAR linebacker position in college.
It will be interesting to see if Sewell signs his Letter of Intent on Wednesday or chooses to wait until February.
