Early Class of 2021 Signees Announced For Duquesne, Robert Morris

PITTSBURGH — While the regional Power Five teams made the biggest splashes in signing prospects on the first day of the National Letter of Intent signing period on Wednesday, the area FCS teams were also active.

Duquesne signed four players on Wednesday, including a pair of local players, while Robert Morris announced 14 signings. Here’s a roundup of the players added to the local FCS squads on Wednesday. The early signing period runs through Friday and both schools are anticipating adding more players before the window closes.

DUQUESNE

Malichi Lowery DB Lake Alfred, Fla.– Originally committed to Temple, but decided on Duquesne, joining his brother Tim, who is a sophomore defensive back. In his junior season at Auburndale, he tallied 35 tackles and led the Bloodhounds to an 8-3 record.

Diontae Givens LB McKees Rocks, Pa.– Givens finished as a the all-time leading tackler in Sto-Rox history with 307. He also was a two-time all-conference selection at linebacker, while averaging 10 tackles per game as a senior.

Jack Dilts DL Vandergrift, Pa.– Dilts was a WPIAL Class-5A Northeastern All-Conference selection at defensive end. In his junior season, he finished with 43 tackles. He is the grandson of longtime Kiski Area coach Richard Dilts.

Jaheim Williams LB Erie, Pa.– A three-sport athlete, Williams was a three-time PIAA District 10 Big School All-Star and a three-time District 10 Region 8 First-Team honoree. He tallied 236 career tackles.

ROBERT MORRIS

Dante Thompson OL Germantown, Md. – One of seven Cougars to sign a National Letter of Intent (NLI) with an NCAA Division I during the early signing period for Quince Orchard. Thompson was a three-year starter on the offensive line, blocking for two 1,000-yard rushers.

Luke Beltavski OL Strongsville, Ohio – Beltavski was named to the 2020 Ohio Prep Sports Writers Association (OPSWA) Division II All-Ohio Second Team. He also earned an honorable mention spot at center according to Cleveland.com.

Corbin LaFrance QB Acworth, Ga. – LaFrance tossed five touchdown passes in a 43-13 win over South Cobb, and also accounted for five touchdowns in another game during his senior season, throwing four scores and running for another. He was a teammate of RMU recruit Jaylon Brown, who also played at Carlton Kell.

Ryan Ilams OL Springboro, Ohio – Ilams was named to the 2020 Ohio Southwest District All-Star Second Team. He is considered one of top performers at the 2020 Best of the Midwest Combine. The Ohioan earned a spot on the 2019 Cox Media Group Ohio All-Area First Team.

Jaylon Brown WR Kennesaw, Ga. – Brown played both wide receiver and cornerback for Carlton Kell High School … Posted a touchdown catch against Allatoona (11/6) … He hauled in two touchdowns in a 38-31 victory over Sprayberry (11/13).

Marsyas Fox CB Loganville, Ga. – Fox posted an interception in second game of 2020 season for Grayson and finished the season with 51 tackles and four interceptions.

Paul Newton LB Imperial, Pa. – The lone RMU recruit in early signing period that hails from the WPIAL, Newton was one of 12 NCAA FCS recruits from the WPIAL. He posted 43 tackles in 2020, including 11 for a loss.

Donnie Cullen CB Palm Bay, Fla. – Cullen saw action at wide receiver for Bayside, hauling in a 76-yard touchdown pass against Southeast. One of 19 seniors from Brevard County in Florida to sign an NCAA Division I scholarship.

Shamaur McDowell DB Bradenton, Fla.– McDowell finished with 38 tackles and three interceptions at IMG Academy. He layed for Wiregrass Ranch High School before transferring to IMG Academy. The Floridian was named to the 2019 All-Tampa Bay Football Second Team at defensive back for Wiregrass Ranch.

Nathan Carabatsakis Winnipeg, Manitoba– Carabatsakis is the first of three student-athletes in latest RMU recruiting class that hail from Canada and played at Clearwater Academy in Florida. He played in Canadian Football Chat (CFC) Prospect game, and also made headlines in prospect game with eight tackles, including three for a loss.

Tristan Marois DE San-Bruno, Quebec– The second of three student-athletes in latest RMU recruiting class that hail from Canada and played at Clearwater Academy in Florida. Marois earned 2019 All-New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) honorable mention accolades for Williston Northampton.

De’Mere White RB Bloomfield, N.J.– White earned all-division honors at return specialist in 2020 for the Super Football Conference (SFC), averaging 5.3 yards per carry, while scoring one touchdown. He helped lead DePaul Catholic to a 49-22 win over Ocean City, as his one-yard touchdown plunged opened up a stretch of 28 consecutive points.

Shakespeare Louis RB Ottawa, ON– The third student-athlete in latest RMU recruiting class that hail from Canada and spent two years at Clearwater Academy, registering 53 tackles in 2020. Louis finished with four interceptions in 2020, including one he returned for a touchdown. He saw action at both cornerback and safety in the defensive backfield and also moonlighted at linebacker.

Marqwan Fluitt DE Buffalo, N.Y.– Fluitt was named to the 2019 All-Western New York First Team at defensive end, and also earned New York Class A First Team All-State accolades in 2019. He also saw action at running back for South Park. As a junior in 2019, Fluitt finished with 136 tackles, including 25 for losses, and 20 sacks.
